snowflakes

With all the ado of late there has been a single word on my mind- snowflakes. And I do not mean the frozen precipitation kind but rather the weak, shallow-minded, little-lost-lamb kind that must have their university issued coloring books and play-doh whilst they retreat to their safe places when the big bad scary world of reality has become too much for them.

My mind reals at the very concept. This is what political correctness run amuck births, this is what the “everybody wins” mentality creates; little creatures that live in a fantasy land of entitlement who have no sense of… no sense of anything except offense. Offense is THE singular sin of which the highest penalty is to be exacted. It is a curious thing to watch one of these tender ones as they begin to writhe and convulse when they try to avoid speaking something that may be considered offensive to anyone awhile their clinging to unreasonable and non-sensible ideals requires they speak offense. It is indeed a quaint little world in which they live.

In this land there is no desire for growth or advancement, as the inhabitants fully expect to enter into life fully advanced- it is their rightful privilege. There is no true work ethic as that requires one to actually work. Advancement, work, effort, all are found unfit concepts as these also bring the threat of failure and failure is the second thing that snowflakes cannot begin to comprehend as they have lived their entire existence encased in the existential womb of post modern gobbledygook where everyone gets a trophy, and everyone DESERVES EVERYTHING regardless of the individual effort put forth.

This utopia is seemingly a lovely place where there are no differing opinions, and if you happen to have one, a differing opinion that is, there will be mass tantrums and much shedding of crocodile tears until the offending party relents. And if pouting fails, and name calling fails, then there will be fits of rage laced expletives the likes of which would cause a seasoned sailor to blush, because, you know, we are dealing with “Enlightened Individuals” who have long ago abandoned our neanderthal cave dwellings where modesty, morality, and personal accountability are left to rot with our bigoted, hate-mongering moldering bones.

If you are confused, (a somewhat legitimate position when considering this subject), I am not writing about toddlers on a playground, nor do I speak of elementary school students. Unfortunately I speak of adults- so called. Men and women being indoctrinated by our failed modern educational system which cares more about furthering political agendas over teaching, by educating our young people on what to think, rather than how to think. Also, I am not actually writing about philosophical differences as much as I am writing about the effects of unabated SIN within our society.

I have pondered this situation quietly for the past several years and it has just now occurred to me in light of the behaviors exhibited by these snowflakes immediately following the recent presidential election- the tantrums, threats, screaming and crying, read SINFUL behavior has at its very roots a spirit of disobedience as mentioned in a 1 Peter.

1 Peter 2:6-8 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

It is the same spirit of pride and disobedience (again SIN) that causes men to reject Christ that is the driving force behind this perverted mentality today. And as we read here in 1 Peter, the more one rejects Christ, the more they will reject Him as they are increasingly given up unto sin, appointed to that end which is secured for them that reject Christ ultimately. Jesus declared in John 9:39-41, that this is part of His judgment upon the world against them that refuse Him.

And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind. And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also? Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.”

There is hope though, in Christ. Paul declares it in Ephesians, that while we once were children of disobedience, God in His great and rich mercy and love for us has made us alive with Christ. Not because some were better, smarter, or just luckier- no we were all “dead in sin”, and “children of wrath” it is God’s love and gift to us that offers salvation in Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:1-5 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

All it takes is for those of us who are His workmanship, who have been created in Christ Jesus unto good works, who are no longer given over to our own sin, lusts and desires; those of us who have heard the blessed Word of God and responded to it; all it takes is for us to publish this Gospel abroad. It is the Word of God that gives men ears to hear His Spirit drawing them. Snowflakes are not to be hated, rejected, nor pitied, but they are to be sought after in love and with a sincere desire to see Jesus Christ exalted and magnified in theirs and our lives.
